Travel Fellowships

Travel Fellowship decisions have been sent via email.  Questions regarding the travel fellow program should be forwarded to schizophreniasoc@aol.com

Background

NIMH has provided a grant to Dr. DeLisi at Harvard Medical School for providing trainee travel awards and a mentoring program for the Schizophrenia International Research Society (SIRS) Scientific Conference.  These awards are available to encourage the development of young scientists.  The program sponsors individuals who have, through their research, teaching, or clinical activities, demonstrated professional and scientific interest in the field of schizophrenia research.  A special emphasis will be given to trainees from low income countries.

This grant supports the participation at the 2010 Schizophrenia International Research Conference of individuals from around the world.  These individuals must be graduate students, residents, fellows, or new/young faculty members that have completed their last training within 5 years.  A committee of senior investigators selects the awardees based on the application materials described below.

Eligibility

Candidates must indicate an interst in schizophrenia research and, if possible, provide evidence of continuing and future involvement and activity in the field.  Individuals must be graduate students, residents, fellows or new/young faculty members that have completed their last training in the last 5 years.  Candidates who are members of an ethnic minority group or from a low income country, underrepresented in biomedical science areas, are strongly encouraged to apply.  Awardees are required to submit a poster or oral presnetation abstract.  Awardees will also participate in the meeting as rapporteurs of oral sessions and their reports will be edited into a published summary of the congress after it occurs.
